CSU partners with PCGI to assist Indigenous Peoples students

Caraga State University signified another collaboration for student development with Project Caraga Group Inc. (PCGI) in support of Indigenous Peoples (IP) students through a memorandum of agreement signed on September 18, 2025.

The partnership between CSU and PCGI, led by CEO Richard Loi, provides monthly living allowances and dormitory accommodations to qualified IP students, addressing challenges in inclusive education and community engagement. The non-profit organization PCGI is committed to holistic development through its philanthropic programs and extensive linkages with local and international donors and partners.

CSU will monitor and mentor the scholars through the extension project of the College of Education (CEd) Mathematics and Science Education Departments titled KAHIUSA, led by Maris T. Lasco, PhD.  The project will also conduct tutoring, remedial classes, study groups, and time-management workshops to address the specific learning needs of IP students, parents, para-teachers, and IPEd teachers in the region, particularly in core subjects like Mathematics and Science.

This partnership strengthens CSU’s extension mandate through community programs, student welfare monitoring, and collaboration with PCGI’s 10 CADT partner communities, affirming both institutions’ commitment to the academic success, growth, and empowerment of IP students relevant to SDGs No. 1 (No Poverty), 4 (Quality Education), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
