CarSU to become one of the Research & Development stations for the Philippine Carabao Center

The Caraga State University (CSU or CarSU) is now part of the regional Research and Development (R&D) stations of the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), effective September 25, 2025.  This development comes under the new law expanding PCC’s mandate to cover all livestock animals and renaming it as the National Institute for Animal Sciences (NIAS). The university now boasts the distinction of being PCC’s fourth research center in Mindanao and the 14th in the country.

CarSU and PCC will be formalizing the Memorandum of Agreement with the University President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, through Dr. Liza G. Battad, Philippine Carabao Executive Director, and the university’s Program Leader for Dairy Carabao Production and Processing, Dr. Tomas M. Austral, Jr.

Under Republic Act No. 12308, or the Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Act, the university, as a station, will help strengthen the country’s animal industry through research and development. More specifically, CarSU will contribute to the growing knowledge and innovations on animal breeding, health, nutrition, and biosecurity. It will also serve as a partner in policy implementation, capacity building, and technology transfer.

With this addition to the university’s growing number of research centers, CarSU is positive to become one of the hubs for animal industry advancement and sustainability, propelling Sustainable Development Goals No. 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

Bugsay, CarSU!
